At the heart of Trinity Martial Arts & Self Defence is our Founder & Chief Instructor, Ed Hodgson - a dedicated martial artist, self-defence instructor and passionate educator with a mission to help every student reach their full potential.
With over three decades of martial arts experience, Ed has trained extensively across several disciplines including KAPAP Krav Maga, Kickboxing and Kung Fu and is also a qualified Self-Defence Instructor with knowledge of UK self-defence law.
His mission is to help students of all ages build real-world confidence, focus, and self-belief through structured, intelligent training.
Each class is designed to challenge without intimidation, encouraging progress at your own pace while building lasting mental and physical strength.

Sifu Drew Alpine is a lifelong martial artist with decades of experience in Wing Chun, Kung Fu and Filipino Kali.
Known for his patient, detailed approach and calm teaching style, Drew helps students master traditional forms, close-range striking, and flow-based weapon drills that develop coordination, balance, and confidence.
His classes bring a unique blend of tradition and modern application, ensuring both beginners and returning martial artists feel challenged, supported, and inspired to grow in every session.
Absolutely not. Most students begin with no martial arts background at all. Our classes are beginner‑friendly and paced to help you feel comfortable from day one. If you have trained before, we’ll help you ease back in confidently.
Just wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in, such as joggers or leggings and a T‑shirt. You’ll receive a Trinity training T‑shirt and gloves when you join the 12‑Week Discovery Course.
KAPAP Krav Maga focuses on modern, real‑world self-defence and personal safety.
Wing Chun & Kali build precision, coordination, timing, and flow using traditional drills and close‑range skills. Both systems complement each other, and you can train in either or both.
If your goal is practical self‑defence, start with KAPAP Krav Maga. If you enjoy technical movement, flow, and coordination, Wing Chun & Kali may feel more natural. Most students try both during the Discovery Course.
You’ll meet the instructor team, try simple drills, learn posture and awareness skills, and get a feel for how supportive the environment is. There’s no pressure, no expectations, and the Intro Class is free if you decide to join.
Yes. All classes are taught at a pace that suits your level. You’ll build fitness naturally through training, and you can take breaks whenever you need.
Yes. Many families join as a team, using martial arts as a shared bonding activity. Teens train alongside adults in a controlled, respectful environment.
Most people feel improvements in confidence, awareness, and fitness within 2–3 weeks. Physical technique develops quickly with consistent attendance.
Absolutely. All sessions are delivered by qualified, DBS‑checked instructors. Safety, control, and correct technique are top priorities from the first lesson.
