At Trinity Martial Arts & Self Defence, our Junior Self-Defence Programme helps 8-13 year olds build confidence, discipline, coordination and practical personal safety skills through structured martial arts training.
Across the weekly classes, students develop striking, movement, balance, awareness, controlled partner work and age-appropriate self-defence skills - all within one joined-up programme.

Children in this age group benefit from a structured, skills-based approach that helps them become more confident, resilient and responsible.
The programme teaches strong foundations in martial arts, discipline and personal safety while helping children manage peer interactions, build friendships and grow in maturity.
Life Skills Your Child Will Develop:
Confidence and emotional resilience
Anti-bullying strategies and awareness
Respect, discipline and responsibility
Improved strength, coordination and balance
Real-world personal safety skills
The Junior Self-Defence Programme is delivered across multiple weekly classes. Each class helps students build confidence, discipline, coordination, martial arts ability and age-appropriate personal safety skills.
Students can attend one or more weekly classes as part of the same programme, depending on their schedule and membership. Over time, the different classes help students develop a broader foundation in martial arts and self-defence.

Students learn practical, age-appropriate personal safety skills, including:
Awareness and prevention
Boundary-setting and assertiveness
De-escalation and calm decision-making
Safe, controlled self-defence responses

Students also build the martial arts skills that support strong self-defence training, including:
Striking, movement and footwork

Partner drills and controlled contact
