KAPAP Krav Maga Self Defence Program

Whereas most sport martial arts focus on preparing students for competition, our program focuses on preparing students for real-world situations where your child’s personal safety could be at risk.
Conflict avoidance, break-away techniques (from being grabbed or held), situational awareness, knife awareness and UK self-defence law all feature in our program, as well as physical martial arts skills.
No. Although the vast majority of our our Foundation Program students continue on into the Junior Self Defence Program, we welcome and support students who have no previous experience of martial arts.
Initial stages of the syllabus focus on conflict avoidance and basic defences and strikes. Striking techniques are first practised without direct contact with a training partner.
Only when your child is confident enough and comfortable to do so will they be introduced to light sparring under closely controlled professional supervision. Sparring is not a mandatory part of the program and your child is able to chose whether or not to take part in this element of a class.
Our kids self defence program will increase your child’s confidence, to reduce the risk of them becoming a target.
It will increase their reaction speeds and personal safety awareness and, together with the self defence techniques that they will learn, will help them to successfully stop an attack and respond appropriately to the situation.
All of our programs are geared towards teaching personal safety awareness and realistic self defence skills that will help to ensure the safety of your child – skills that will stay with them for life.
Competition fighting has rules, real-world self defence situations do not. Although there is an element of sparring in our programs, we do not train for competition fighting.

With over 30 years experience in Martial Arts and Self Defence training, Ed brings a level of knowledge and expertise to his classes and courses that nurtures the personal development of students and course delegates of all ages along their martial arts journey and self defence education.
Passionate about self defence and personal safety awareness, Ed believes that these are core life skills that every child should have knowledge of.
Achieving Black Belts in both KAPAP Krav Maga and Kickboxing, Ed has trained in numerous other styles, including Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Tai Chi, Wing Chun and Kali.
Ed holds a BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Self Defence Instruction and is an Approved Self Defence Trainer with the National Federation of Personal Safety.
